Kendrick Lamar Surpasses Drake as “Goosebumps” Becomes Highest-Certified Rap Song Ever

Kendrick Lamar Claims Title for Highest-Certified Rap Song, Surpassing Drake

Kendrick Lamar has overtaken Drake to hold the record for the highest-certified rap single, thanks to his track “Goosebumps” with Travis Scott.

The 2016 collaboration, from Travis Scott’s album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, has now been certified 17× platinum by the RIAA. That means it has moved at least 17 million units in the U.S.

This certification pushes “Goosebumps” past Drake’s “God’s Plan,” which stood at 16× platinum.

Although Drake has lost this particular title, he still holds significant achievements. He shares with Post Malone the record for having 10 singles certified diamond or more. Some of Drake’s top certified hits include “God’s Plan,” “Sicko Mode” (with Travis Scott), “No Guidance” (with Chris Brown), “One Dance,” “Life Is Good” (with Future), and “Best I Ever Had.”

For Kendrick Lamar, “Goosebumps” now marks his first diamond-certified song, while for Travis Scott it’s his second, joining “Sicko Mode.”

Kendrick also has other major hits inching toward diamond status, like “Fuckin’ Problems” (with A$AP Rocky) and “HUMBLE.”, currently at 8× and 7× platinum, respectively.

It’s important to note that RIAA certifications must be requested by the artist or label. This means some songs may have already surpassed these thresholds without being officially recognized.
