Rapper Soulja Boy has been released from jail following a two-night stay in custody, after prosecutors determined there was insufficient evidence to continue with the gun-related charges. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the case was declined on those grounds.
The arrest occurred during a traffic stop in Los Angeles, in which Soulja Boy was a passenger. Authorities did not disclose what triggered the stop, who was driving the vehicle, or the rationale behind conducting a search.
Following his release, Soulja Boy celebrated the moment by posting "first day out" on his Instagram Stories.
This arrest falls within a string of legal troubles for the artist. In 2014, he was previously convicted for carrying a loaded firearm. More recently, earlier in 2025, he was found liable in a civil case involving allegations of rape and assault; the jury ultimately sided with the plaintiff, and a significant financial judgment was issued against him.
