Rick Ross Joins Spotify’s Billion Streams Club Thanks to Drake Collab, Despite Ongoing Beef
Rick Ross has reached a major career milestone with his first entry into Spotify’s billion streams club, courtesy of his 2019 hit collaboration with Drake — even though the two rap heavyweights are currently at odds.
On Wednesday (October 16), Chart Data confirmed that “Money In The Grave” surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, marking Ross’s first billion-stream track. The song was released as part of Drake’s Best In The World Pack, a celebratory drop following the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 NBA Championship victory.
However, the celebration comes amid rising tension between the rappers. Their feud, which escalated earlier this year, became a talking point during Rick Ross’s appearance on Yung Miami’s 'Caresha Please' podcast last month. When asked about their issues, Ross explained:
“He mentioned my name, and that’s a no-no. Don’t do that, especially when it ain’t about no real shit. But when you do that, okay then: this is how we gonna play,” Ross said.
Ross added that he’s not stressing the conflict. “I can wake up every day and say ‘BBL Drizzy’ or some old shit while I’m smoking a joint, listening to the waterfalls, looking at the birds fly off. That shit easy for me.”
From Collaboration to Conflict
The tension between Ross and Drake intensified earlier this year when Drake name-dropped Ross during his feud with Kendrick Lamar on the diss track “Push Ups.” Ross retaliated with his own track, “Champagne Moments,” further fueling the dispute.
Despite the beef, Yung Miami asked Ross whether it’s possible for him to reconcile with Drake, given Ross’s role in squashing past beefs — including the infamous feud between Drake and Meek Mill.
“I don’t know. It depends on how I feel,” Ross responded. “I ain’t losing no sleep over none of that.”
No Conspiracies — Just Rap
Ross also dismissed speculation that multiple artists ganging up on Drake was part of a larger plot. Speaking on Shannon Sharpe’s Nightcap Summer Sessions: LIVE, Ross clarified:
“On some rap shit, it was no conspiracies. Rozay name was said, so I’ma jump off the porch. That’s what I do. I had some fun.”
Though their relationship seems strained for now, “Money In The Grave” remains a testament to the powerful musical chemistry between the two stars — regardless of their personal differences.
