Miley Cyrus is a household name around the world. From being one of the most popular tweens in the world to an out of control adolescent who could not be tamed, Miley has built a career that many will never accomplish in their entire lifetime.

It may come as a surprise to many, but the superstar known as Miley Cyrus was not born into her fame. She is one of those beautiful stories of a small-town girl who made it big in L.A.

To truly understand how incredible Miley’s careers you need to know, it is first important to answer the question, where is Miley Cyrus from?

A rural childhood in Tennessee
Miley Cyrus was born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee. Her father Billy Ray Cyrus had set up the family home to the South of Nashville, paying homage to his true country roots. Their multi-acre colonial-styled property in the countryside led Miley to have a deep connection with the outdoors and aided in her developing a tom-boyish personality. In addition, Miley’s godmother Dolly Parton lived nearby, in the town of Brentwood, Tennessee. Miley attended Heritage Elementary School in Nashville, where many other Country singers’ children attended.

Off to Canada
When Miley was a young child, Billy Ray was transitioning from being a Country singer to an actor. He got hired to play a lead role in the television sitcom Doc, which ran for five seasons. The filming of this show took place in Canada, so Billy moved the entire Cyrus clan to the neighbouring country in 2002. It was during this time in Canada that Miley got her start in the acting world, where she occasionally had guest parts on her dad’s show. Noticing her love and talent for acting, her parents started actively looking for more acting roles for her to audition for.

Making the big move to L.A
In the pursuit of Miley’s acting dreams, the Cyrus clan moved to L.A. when she was 11 years old. Having gotten an invitation to audition for a new up and coming Disney show known as Hannah Montana, Miley’s family uprooted their life in Canada quite quickly. It was in California that her stardom launched, getting the lead role on the hit Disney show Hannah Montana, while also staking her claim as an international pop star. During Miley’s time in L.A., she lived with her parents at their luxury Malibu home until she was of age to move into her own place. Soon after, her and her former fiancé Liam Hemsworth purchased a home together in Malibu.

Back to home roots
Following her divorce with Liam Hemsworth, Miley decided to move back to her home roots of Tennessee. She purchased a 6-million-dollar mansion in her childhood hometown of Franklin. It is said that she spends much of her time in her rustic mansion, looking to move on from the heart break of her former love life. But that is not without saying that L.A. does not hold a special spot in her heart as well. Sharing time between these two homes, Miley is working on finding balance between her love and work life in L.A. and connecting with her country roots in Tennessee.
