Kendrick Lamar Makes History as Grand National Tour Grosses $390.7 Million
Kendrick Lamar has reached another historic milestone as the Grand National Tour reportedly generated $390.7 million across 47 shows, further establishing the massive commercial power of hip-hop on the global touring stage.
Updated touring figures reported this week show the tour sold approximately 2.037 million tickets worldwide.
The numbers are being reported as making the Grand National Tour the highest-grossing rap tour in history and giving Kendrick the highest-grossing touring year ever reported for a rapper.
Kendrick Lamar and SZA Built a Stadium-Level Event
The Grand National Tour launched in April 2025 with Kendrick Lamar and SZA joining forces for stadium dates across North America before taking the show to Europe.
SZA co-headlined the North American and European portions of the tour, while Kendrick later continued with international performances, including dates in Latin America and Australia.
The pairing brought together two enormous audiences at a time when both artists were experiencing major commercial momentum.
Kendrick was touring following the release of his album "GNX," while SZA entered the tour following the continued success of her "SOS" era.
More Than 2 Million Tickets Sold
The reported $390.7 million gross becomes even more significant when combined with attendance.
Across 47 shows, approximately 2.037 million tickets were sold.
That works out to an average of more than 43,000 tickets per show and roughly $8.3 million in gross ticket revenue per performance.
Earlier in the tour, Kendrick and SZA were already breaking individual concert records.
Their Seattle performance at Lumen Field reportedly generated approximately $14.8 million from 60,941 tickets, setting a major hip-hop concert benchmark.
Touring Has Become Big Business for Hip-Hop
The Grand National Tour also illustrates how much the economics surrounding major hip-hop artists have evolved.
Streaming remains critical for building global audiences, but artists operating at the highest level can turn that audience into enormous live-event businesses.
A successful album can generate streams while simultaneously creating demand for concert tickets, merchandise, sponsorship opportunities and other businesses surrounding an artist's brand.
For established artists with valuable catalogs, publishing rights and ownership interests, the business can extend far beyond simply getting paid for streams.
