Angel Reese delivered a historic performance Monday night, breaking two major WNBA rebounding records in the same game.
The Atlanta Dream star grabbed 26 rebounds in Atlanta's 78-71 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks, establishing a new WNBA single-game rebounding record while also surpassing the league's single-season record.
Reese finished with 11 points, 26 rebounds, three assists and three steals in 38 minutes, giving her another double-double during an already remarkable season.
Angel Reese Breaks 23-Year-Old WNBA Record
The single-game record had stood for more than two decades.
Former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw grabbed 24 rebounds for the Washington Mystics on May 23, 2003. Reese surpassed that mark with her 26-board performance against Los Angeles.
Reese's ability to control the glass has been one of the defining characteristics of her WNBA career, but Monday's performance took that reputation to another level.
Twenty-six rebounds in a single game now stands as the new league benchmark.
Reese Passes A'ja Wilson for Single-Season Record
Reese also made history on the season leaderboard.
Her performance pushed her to 458 rebounds for the 2026 season, surpassing the previous record of 451 established by Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson in 2024.
What's even more impressive is that Reese still has time to extend the record.
Atlanta has six regular-season games remaining, meaning the final number could climb considerably higher before the postseason begins.
Another Double-Double for Reese
Reese secured her WNBA-leading 27th double-double of the season when she scored with 13.9 seconds remaining in the game.
Her teammate Allisha Gray summed up the performance simply after watching Reese dominate the boards:
“That’s a talent.”
Gray led Atlanta with 20 points, while Rhyne Howard added 18 and surpassed 3,000 career points during the victory.
Angel Reese Is on a Remarkable Run
The record-breaking performance comes just days after another major night for Reese.
On August 22, she scored a career-high 31 points with 14 rebounds against the Phoenix Mercury as Atlanta secured a playoff berth with a 99-89 victory.
Before that, Reese went a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, scoring 20 points with 10 rebounds and eight assists as Atlanta destroyed Los Angeles 124-88.
In a matter of days, Reese has delivered a perfect shooting performance, a career scoring high and now the greatest single-game rebounding performance in WNBA history.
Atlanta Dream Continue Their Playoff Push
The victory improved Atlanta to 25-13, with the Dream sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings following Monday's games. Atlanta has also won four consecutive games, all on the road.
That makes Reese's individual records even more significant.
She's putting up historic numbers while contributing to a team that has already secured a place in the 2026 WNBA playoffs.
