BET Hip Hop Awards 2024: Fat Joe Returns as Host, Megan Thee Stallion Tops Nominations List

The BET Hip Hop Awards 2024 is set to be a night to remember, celebrating the best in hip hop over the past year. The 19th annual awards show will take place in a brand new location, Las Vegas, NV, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, with the broadcast airing on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 8 PM ET/PT on BET.

Fat Joe Returns as Host and Co-Executive Producer

The multi-talented Grammy® Award-nominated artist, actor, author, and media personality Fat Joe will be returning as the host for the third consecutive year. Fat Joe, also known as "Joe Crack," expressed his excitement about hosting the awards in a new city. “It’s been a dream to host the ‘BET Hip Hop Awards’ the past few years, and I’m looking forward to taking things to the next level in Las Vegas. We’re going to be in a new city and location, but the excitement and entertainment at the awards will be even bigger than ever,” said Fat Joe.

Megan Thee Stallion Leads with 12 Nominations

Megan Thee Stallion dominates the nominations list this year with an impressive 12 nods across multiple categories, including ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Album of the Year,’ ‘Hip Hop Artist of the Year,’ and ‘Hustler of the Year.’ Her versatility and influence are further highlighted by her nominations for ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse,’ and ‘Impact Track,’ along with three nominations for ‘Best Collaboration.’

Kendrick Lamar and Drake Follow Close Behind

Kendrick Lamar follows Megan with 11 nominations, showcasing his continued impact on the genre. His nominations include ‘Best Hip Hop Video,’ ‘Best Live Performer,’ ‘Lyricist of the Year,’ and twice for ‘Song of the Year.’ Drake rounds out the top three with eight nominations, reinforcing his influence in the industry.

Other Notable Nominees

Cardi B, GloRilla, Metro Boomin, and Nicki Minaj each garnered seven nominations, while Future and Travis Scott received six nods each. The competition is fierce as hip hop's biggest stars vie for top honors in categories such as ‘Best Collaboration,’ ‘Video Director of the Year,’ and ‘Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse.’

Additional nominees include 21 Savage and 41, who received four nominations each, and A$AP Rocky, Common, Lil Wayne, Pete Rock, and Sexyy Red, each earning three nominations.
