AFTER HOSPITAL RELEASE, LIL TJAY SHOOTING SUSPECT IS ARRESTED IN NEW JERSEY

Official detention has been made of the guy suspected of shooting Bronx musician Lil Tjay at a Chipotle in Edgewater, New Jersey.

Mohamed Konate, 27, was detained by New Jersey police on Friday (July 22), according to the Daily Voice, and is now being held on Rikers Island. Konate was previously hospitalized for gunshot wounds he allegedly received during the attempted robbery of Tjay, according to the authorities.

Lil Tjay and his two pals Antoine Boyd, 22, and Jeffrey Valdez, 24, were sitting in a Dodge Durango at the Promenade shopping mall in the Bronx on June 22 when Konate attempted to rob them. This was previously revealed by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

The thoracic cavity, which houses the rib cage, heart, lungs, esophagus, and other essential organs, is where Konate reportedly fired almost deadly bullets at Tjay as he struggled. Konate and one of Tjay's pals both sustained gunshot wounds.

After the incident, Konate was allegedly assisted into a BMW by a friend, who subsequently left him off at Lennox Hill Hospital on Park Avenue in Manhattan's Upper East Side. As the associate is purportedly collaborating with authorities, the detectives declined to name them.

After being taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, the rapper of "In My Head" underwent emergency surgery. He is now reportedly awake, speaking, and breathing on his own. Konate is accused of committing three first-degree attempted murders, while two of his colleagues are accused of second-degree unauthorized possession of a firearm.

In 2021, Lil Tjay released his most recent album, Destined 2 Win, which featured the Billboard Hot 100 smash singles "Calling My Phone" with 6LACK and "Headshot" with Fivio Foreign and Polo G. In My Head and "Goin Up," two new tracks, were just released.
