Bruno Mars has made a generous donation of $1 million to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. The singer-songwriter surprised fans with his philanthropic act during a sold-out concert tonight at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit, Michigan on his 24K Magic World Tour. Made up of members from the community of Genesee County, the organization raises money to help victims of the Flint water crisis. Mars teamed up with tour promoter Live Nation to redirect funds from the show to the tax-exempt public charity.

"I'm very thankful to the Michigan audience for joining me in supporting this cause," Mars said in a press statement. "Ongoing challenges remain years later for Flint residents, and it's important that we don't forget our brothers and sisters affected by this disaster. As people, especially as Americans, we need to stand together to make sure something like this never happens in any community ever again."
Back in June, five more government employees in Michigan were charged with charged with involuntary manslaughter for 12 deaths that were caused by Legionnaires' disease as a result of exposure to the contaminated water.
